The Trail of Ten Falls, Silver Falls State Park
I made my way north in Oregon, travelling temporarily from the drier central areas to the forested foothills of the Cascades and Silver Falls State Park. The Trail of Ten Falls lies in is a spectacular area and, as advertised, passes ten waterfalls in the less than nine mile hike. This excellent return on investment makes it a very popular place indeed. Some facts: the largest of the falls is 178 feet, four out of ten waterfalls are over cirques (sometimes described as amphitheater-like formations) which allow you to walk behind them, and YOU CAN WALK BEHIND FOUR OF THE TEN FALLS (just in case you didn’t catch that). Really glad I came upon this hike is all I can say. After the hike I spread out my blanket and had a late lunch on one of the park’s beautifully manicured lawns before doing some yoga and then laying in the shade. Pretty good day.
Oh, and this was the sunset that day:
Pretty good day indeed.
