The Getty Museum
After stopping at the Mission San Luis Rey I found a spot near Los Angeles to sleep and in the morning headed to The Getty Museum which is perched atop a hill, offering spectacular views of the city. The architecture of the center is stunning, with courtyards connecting the buildings that are aligned with the natural topographical ridges of the hill. Numerous fountains add warmth to the modernist design which in itself contrasts with the richly styled galleries. I found the collection at the museum thoughtful but overly conservative in taste with little non-Western art, though still truly worth the visit. My favorites from the collection β and I had quite a few β are below.

Moonlit Landscape with a View of the New Amstel River and Castle Kostverloven, Aert van der Neer, 1647
I loved the Getty Center! Were the gardens still blooming?
Yes! It was gorgeous!
