Tejas Park, Lake Georgetown

After hiking to Crockett Gardens Falls/Knight Springs in the morning I knew I wanted to do an afternoon hike. Luckily when I crossed the wetland area on a spur trail down to the shore from the falls I met a man who was happy to give me a recommendation. And so, after returning to the trailhead I drove to the other end of the lake and set off from Tejas Park along the North Fork of the San Gabriel River towards the lake. Sadly, this hike was less scenic than the section at Cedar Breaks due to low water levels and in addition, since it was now afternoon, the exposed meadow sections were brutally hot that day. I hiked a little more than 3 miles out from the trailhead before deciding to head back since I would be coming up on 12 miles and I considered that to be enough for the day. This section certainly did have its pretty spots and I did get to see two armadillos, which was a first.
