Wandering Around and a Walk at Monksville Reservoir. Or, That Turtle Just Peed On Me!!!
After the last barn we were heading towards the town of Warwick when we came across a turtle in the road. I love turtles and for the past few months, since I first got to Kentucky, I’ve been doing a lot of roadside turtle rescues. Tina swiftly pulled over while I leapt out of the car and ran back to move him back to the nearest side of the busy road. I was running back to the car when she pointed out that he was trying to cross to the other side so I dashed back, found him in the brush and was running him across the road when I suddenly felt liquid running down my leg. Quite a bit, in fact. I looked down and sure enough, my turtle friend was letting it all go. I definitely scared the poor guy and I’m sorry for it but he gave me the best laugh in a long time.
We paused briefly in the town of Warwick where I snapped a couple shots of a cool old rail bridge before we drove south along Greenwood Lake. We then stopped at a local park for a picnic of sorts and took advantage of the swingset as we recaptured our youth. Continuing on, we randomly decided to check out the Monksville Reservoir where we ended up taking a short hike on a trail that had a billion small frogs that were very hard to avoid.
Spending time with Tina really reminded me how much I enjoy taking photos just for the sake of taking photos. Obviously I go many places and see many things but getting pictures is always incidental to my decisions on where I go. Having the opportunity to go out with my sister and enjoy the taking of pictures for what it is was different and relaxing and allowed me to channel a bit of my creativity. The time we spent together really inspired me to maybe sometimes just take photos… because I like to. I’m so thankful I was able to visit her and meet her family. I truly had the best time.
