Views from the Balcony and Walks Around Town
I spent the majority of the few weeks I was in Connecticut staying with my friend Alex who very conveniently is renting a place on the Thames River that has a balcony with waterfront views. In addition to having a front row seat to some spectacular sunrises and sunsets, we enjoyed quite a few evenings sitting outside and watching the river. As a bonus, the balcony had a front row seat to one of the largest fireworks displays on the East Coast during the weekend of Sailfest. I’ve decided that I’m going to make more friends that have good views.
Yet another great thing about his place being on the water was the resident swan family. The neighbors fed them often so they would usually cruise by once or twice a day. Obviously adorable. I love this shot of them because it looks like they’re synchronized swimming.
A few times I walked the couple miles from where I was staying to where the Thames River empties into the Long Island Sound; it’s quite pretty once you get close to Lighthouse Point. Unfortunately all the beaches along the way are private and the lighthouse itself was scaffolded up but it was still a pretty walk.
