Chapman Falls, Devil’s Hopyard, Connecticut

It was very hot the day of our visit to Gillette’s Castle so by the time we were ready to leave in the afternoon, I could tell Alex wasn’t interested in going hiking in the nearby Devil’s Hopyard. We did however decide to stop and look at a few things close to the trailheads. Chapman Falls happens to be conveniently located right at the road so while Alex enjoyed the shade and views at the top, I climbed around and took the trail to the bottom for better views. There were tons of people swimming and lounging in the water that day which wasn’t surprising given the heat and so no one gave me a second look as I climbed around the waterfalls. When I was finished I rejoined Alex and drove over to the other trailhead where I jumped out to take a few pictures of the bridge and stream.
