Honeymoon Island State Park, Florida
I began my morning at Honeymoon Island State Park by walking the 2.2 mile Osprey Trail, a loop through barrier island flatwood forest that is home to multiple species of birds – so many birds in fact that my walk practically had a soundtrack. I saw multiple osprey, an eagle’s nest with two babies, an unoccupied great horned owl nest, and plenty more birds which I couldn’t identify.
By late morning I was stretched out on the beach reading but in the afternoon I walked about two miles down the beach where I was treated to views of subtle gradations of pale blue water and white sand. It was a delightfully relaxing day and one that ended with a perfect sunset seen as I drove over the causeway back to the mainland.
This makes me want to give honeymoon island a second chance!
It was very nice, Mandy, particularly when you walk down the beach a couple miles.
The day we went it was super overcrowded! I’d like to check it out on a better day😊
