Bell Rock Pathway, Sedona, Arizona
Bell Rock Pathway is a well-used trail winding through the large red rock formations that make Sedona famous. I walked around some of the more notable formations – Courthouse Butte and Bell Rock – using the connecting Big Park Loop and Courthouse Butte Loop Trails as well as the Llama Trail for a total of about 6 miles. I’ve seen a good amount of red sandstone before, most notable in my travels in Utah in Fall 2013, but I still get pretty giddy about it. Plus, it’s fun to climb on.
The morning I went was cloudy though about midday the weather cleared a bit; thus, my later pictures are better than the early-morning ones. Still, the saturated colors didn’t quite come through in the photos.

The previous day I had wandered north a bit in the evening through Sedona to Oak Creek Canyon, a deep cut gorge that betrays the elevation gain from the red rock of Sedona through the prevalence of pines. This area was beautiful and a place I can’t wait to return to and explore further.

Beautiful photos! I went through Sedona as a kid for a quick vacation and I really, really want to go back. I get giddy about red sandstone too, no matter how many times I’ve seen it! Thanks for posting this, I can jot down this trail for memory for when I go back 😀
