Casque Isles Trail, Aguasabon Falls, and Schreiber Beach
Leaving Neys we continued west, making brief stops along the way to check out rivers, bridges, and a large gorge with a phenomenal waterfall – Aguasabon Falls. We stopped at Schreiber to hike a segment of the Casque Isles Trail. Beginning at Schreiber Beach, the trail follows a creek upstream, crosses a suspension bridge, the begins a very steep ascent through mized forest before you arrive at a patch of bare rock that overlooks Lake Superior. The view was pretty, but the muddy, slippery conditions made the overgrown trail nearly impassable at points at dangerous as collapsed roots hidden underneath the dense ground cover created huge holes that nearly caused a broken ankle. Turning back we stopped at a different section of Schreiber Beach on the way out of town, finding another waterfall and a rocky headland to walk out on.
