Snake River Canyon and Shoshone Falls

My next scheduled stop was Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls, Idaho but I paused in order to soak up the views after crossing the Perrine Memorial Bridge, which spans the mighty Snake River Canyon. Nearly 500 feet above the river, the canyon rim affords spectacular vistas that should not be missed is you find yourself in this part of Idaho.

At Shoshone Falls in Dierkes Lake Park I viewed the 212 foot falls that despite their majesty and interesting fan pattern over 1,000 horizontal feet, is apparently less than half as impressive in terms of water volume as it is in spring. No matter, I was still impressed.

Behind the dams just upriver lies Dierkes Lake, which I took advantage of to cool down from the relentless sun. The water was fairly warm too which was a nice bonus. Another lovely afternoon.
