Cypress Grove Nature Park, Jackson, Tennessee
Making my way into Tennessee I decided to stop along the way at Cypress Grove Nature Park in Jackson, just off Interstate 40. Cypress Grove is an indigenous wildlife preserve with over a mile of boardwalk leading through Cypress forests and past ponds and lakes. The park also has bird rescue area that includes eagles, hawks, and owls. Although the boardwalk trail is less than two miles roundtrip, I spent a couple hours wandering, stopping to look at the trees and the birds and enjoying the crisp air. I really enjoyed exploring the swamp ecosystem and looking at the buttressed roots of the cypress trees.
