Beaches Near Venice, Florida
After leaving Myakka State Park I made my way down the gulf coast exploring beaches until I reached the Venice area. Luckily my need for some time to reflect coincided with my arrival here; I was able to quickly determine that sleeping here for continuous nights would not arouse suspicion and so I stayed for about a week. I spent mornings and late afternoons walking, reading, and thinking while in the afternoons I read and did some writing stretched out on the beach. The immediate area had multiple free beaches, plenty of places to refill water gallons, outdoor showers at the beaches and plenty of trails and beach walks. I had a definite preference for walking in solitude along the miles of uninhabited barrier islands but I did walk in Shamrock Park one morning, which connected to the Venetian Waterway Park Trail running along the Intracoastal Waterway. While not overly scenic, the trail did provide additional views of the Florida scrub habitat in addition to having very possibly the best trail markers I’ve seen.
Such a stunning place and magical pictures. I especially loved the idea of the drum circle, Meghan!

Yes, the drum circle was a random event I came upon and enjoyed.
